WHAT: Annual Fire Truck Roundup and Volunteer Firefighter of the Year Award
WHEN: Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Leon County will host the 20th Annual Fire Truck Roundup on Saturday, October 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Growing Room Child Development Center, 1271 Metropolitan Blvd. The community is encouraged to attend this fun and exciting appreciation event in honor of Leon County’s volunteer firefighters. Children will be able to explore fire truck equipment and enjoy family-friendly music. Additionally, volunteers will offer free food and drinks, face painting, a bounce house and other giveaways.

The Earl Bacon Insurance Agency, which has sponsored this event for the past 20 years, will make a donation to each Volunteer Firefighter Department in honor of Jack Harron, former Miccosukee Fire Chief who lost a battle with cancer. Chief Harron served 17 years as fire chief and was instrumental in the creation of this annual event that highlights the service and dedication of the men and women who protect life and property of Leon County’s citizens.

Information on how to become a volunteer firefighter will be available, along with the opportunity to speak one-on-one with a volunteer firefighter about the many rewards of joining the team.
