Leon County Hosts Award-winning Young Adult Author

On Monday, September 25, the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library will host award-winning young adult author Christina Diaz Gonzalez for a writer’s workshop, presentation and book signing.

The Miami-based writer is the author of several award-winning books including The Red Umbrella, A Thunderous Whisper and Moving Target, Return Fire, and an upcoming book in the series, The Spirit Animals: Fall of the Beasts. Gonzalez’s books have received numerous honors and recognition in publications such as Publisher’s Weekly, The Miami Herald and the School Library Journal. The Washington Post calls her novels “engrossing, compelling and inspirational.”

At 4:30 p.m., Gonzalez will present a writer’s workshop for middle-school aged students. At the workshop, Gonzalez will give tips to young writers on how to develop a story and ways to improve their writing and editing. At 7 p.m., Gonzalez will speak about her experiences as an author, the inspiration behind her books and her writing style. The presentation is open to the public and followed by a book signing.
