Leon County Opens Comfort Station Following Irma

To help recover from Irma, Leon County will open the downtown LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library as a comfort station to provide snacks, air conditioning, public computer access, a place to charge a tablet or phone, check out materials and much more. The comfort station will open Tuesday, September 12 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and is located at 200 W. Park Ave.

Days before Irma brought high winds and rain, Leon County staged needed supplies at the Main Library in anticipation of a severe storm. With school scheduled to remain closed on Tuesday, September 12, the Main Library comfort station can be used as a resource for families and others impacted by Irma. And for this period of time, you do not need a library card or be a Leon County resident to use the library’s various services.

The Leon County Main Library will be staffed by County librarians and volunteers to help meet the needs of the community as we recover from Irma. Information on services offered by non-profit organizations to recover from disasters will be available.
