Commissioner Bryan Desloge Receives Commitment to Service Award

Florida Association of Counties Presents Honor During Annual Conference

Last week, the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) presented Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge with the Commitment to Service Award during the 2017 FAC Annual Conference & Exposition in Palm Beach County.

The Commitment to Service Award is presented to elected officials who show enduring dedication to local governments and the preservation of home rule.

“It’s been an honor to serve and represent counties in many different ways,” said Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge. “I’m humbled by this award that recognizes those committed to proving how and why counties matter.”

A Past President of FAC, Desloge is concluding his term as President of the National Association of Counties where, during that time, he has represented Florida’s counties and local governments throughout the nation in Washington D.C.

“Commissioner Desloge is without equal in his dedication to serving Florida’s counties,” said FAC President, Marion County Commissioner, Kathy Bryant. “As President of the National Association of Counties he has taken every opportunity to represent Florida’s interests on a national scale.”

For more than 85 years, the Florida Association of Counties has represented the diverse interests of Florida’s counties, emphasizing the importance of protecting home rule – the concept that government closest to the people governs best.  The Florida Association of Counties helps counties effectively serve and represent Floridians by strengthening and preserving county home rule through advocacy, education and collaboration.
