Leon County Library To Host Adult Summer Program Series
"Build a Better World" Theme Continues With Workshops Taught By Local Experts

Leon County announces a three-part adult summer program series featuring home improvement, sustainability, and safety workshops at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library.

As part of the “Build a Better World” summer reading program, this series will teach library patrons how to improve their lives at home with lessons from local gardening, sustainability and home safety experts. The following events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m. , “Build a Better Backyard” - Stephen Whiteford, Eleanor Deitrich and landscape expert Bob Farley will teach attendees about native plants, invasive species and backyard planning in this DIY workshop for beginners.

Saturday, July 15, at 2 p.m., “Build a Greener World: Everyday Sustainability” – Tessa Schreiner with Leon County’s Office of Sustainability will explore what sustainability means and what steps we can take to create a sustainable future for our environment, local economy, and community.

Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m., “Build a Safer World” - Join Nicole King, American Red Cross Disaster Program Manager, to learn how to create a safety plan for yourself and your family during a disaster. Those who attend will be entered to win a weather radio.
