Be the Architect of a Better World with the Library Summer Reading Kick-off

WHO: Leon County
WHAT: Summer Library Program Kick-Off
WHEN: Saturday, May 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE: All seven LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library locations

Leon County announces the 2017 Summer Reading Program at a kick-off event on Saturday, May 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at all seven LeRoy Collins Leon County Library locations. Each library will feature a mini model town where participants will receive a driver’s license and their own car to make visits to places around the town including an art gallery, building zone, community garden, library, post office, recycling center, and café.

Participants in the summer reading program will “Build a Better World” by receiving a fold-out building each week upon visiting the library. The “architect” will collect nine fold-out buildings to take home and design their own model town. The materials will be available throughout June and July.

Additional activities during the kick-off include completing a LEGO bricks challenge, making a quilt square featuring your favorite book, and much more.

Summer reading activities prepare students for the next school year by keeping their imaginations active. Visit the library all summer for reading materials and special fun programs including puppets, music, animals, science, stories and more!
