Help Available for Navigating Post-Hurricane Recovery

Information Stations to be Set Up

To aid citizens with navigating through post-hurricane recovery, information stations for citizens will be set up beginning Friday, Sept. 9, through Sunday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. Staff with the City of Tallahassee and Leon County Government will be available to help with general service, insurance and recovery questions.

Information stations will be located in Building 2 at the Leon County Fairgrounds, 441 Paul Russell Road, and in the second floor conference room at the Frenchtown Renaissance Center, 435 North Macomb Street.

Citizens do not need to bring any paperwork with them but should be able to provide contact information and answer basic questions about their impacts.

Staff will provide information about community resources and help direct residents to agencies that can assist them. While staff will be able to provide generic insurance claim information, reports will not be taken at these locations, and residents will need to contact their insurance agents for information specific to their policies and coverage.

A list of community resources and frequently asked questions will be posted on Talgov.com/Hermine and LeonCountyFL.gov/ei by the end of the day on Friday. Citizens needing assistance may call 850-606-1322 or e-mail StormRecovery@leoncountyfl.gov.

Update on Restoration and Debris Removal

As of 5:30 p.m. today, less than 1,000 City Utility customers remain without power. The City of Tallahassee, along with mutual aid crews, continues working around the clock. Crews will continue working nonstop until power is restored to every customer. For updates and information on power restoration efforts, visitTalgov.com/hermine.

Since Hurricane Hermine, crews have been removing debris, and beginning Friday, Sept. 9, operations will expand to include residential and business service. Leon County, the City of Tallahassee and the State of Florida will pick up and dispose of yard waste, demolition debris and other materials. Citizens in the city limits and the unincorporated area will be serviced within two weeks. Debris and yard waste should not be bagged, only placed near the curb for pick up.
