The Great Leon County Scavenger Hunt Begins May 14

The Hunt is on! Leon County Government will hold the community-wide Great Leon County Scavenger Hunt, Saturday, May 14. The family-friendly event is open to citizens of all ages to follow clues and discover the places that make our community unique. Citizens can begin the scavenger hunt between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at one of the following locations:

  •  B. L. Perry Branch Library, 2817 S. Adams St.
  • Fort Braden Branch Library, 16327 Blountstown Hwy.
  • Lake Jackson Branch Library, 3840-300 N. Monroe St.
  • Northeast Branch Library, 5513 Thomasville Rd.
  • Eastside Branch Library, 1583 Pedrick Rd.

At each participating branch library, citizens will pick up a Scavenger Hunt Treasure Map that features County parks, local cultural institutions, and locally-owned restaurants. Participants will have opportunities to earn prizes along their journey.

"As the summer months approach, the Scavenger Hunt offers a great opportunity for families to uncover some of our community’s hidden treasures,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Bill Proctor. "Working with our local community partners, the event will highlight our local history, natural features, and restaurants.”

As part of the event, participants will take photos at various landmarks and post them on social media with the hashtag #leonhunt throughout the day. The social media activity allows others to share in the experience as they explore their community.

“The Scavenger Hunt is another fun way for the County to engage the community”, said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “This event offers the opportunity to highlight our programs and services as well as our local community partners.”
