2016 Citizen Engagement Series Launches on January 28
In its continuous focus and commitment to engaging citizens, Leon County will hold its award-winning Citizen Engagement Series session on Thursday, January 28, at 6 p.m., at the Leon County LeRoy Collins Main Library, 200 W. Park Ave. Entitled “Making Hard Choices: Balancing Budgets and Exercising Fiscal Stewardship”, this is the first of several Citizen Engagement Series planned for 2016.
The session offers citizens a hands-on experience of the decision-making process of balancing the budget. To reserve your spot, visit www.LeonCountyFL.gov/CES.
“Taxpayer dollars are essential for the delivery of many quality services citizens expect from Leon County, but there is a budget process for investing limited dollars while balancing community priorities,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Bill Proctor. “By being transparent and showing how the County budgets public dollars, citizens will learn a lot about balancing our community’s needs.”
Held since 2012, the recurring series demonstrates Leon County’s commitment to fostering community engagement. The program received two national awards from the National Association of Counties and the City-County Communications and Marketing Association.
“The Citizen Engagement Series provides a unique and immersive ways in which citizens and the County government engage with and learn from each other in order to collectively shape our community,” said County Administrator Vincent Long. “It’s our belief that we make better decisions and build a stronger community when we create meaningful opportunities for engagement.”
Open to all Leon County residents, those interested in the session can register by visiting www.LeonCountyFL.gov/CES or calling (850) 606-5300. Registration closes Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
