Description of duties: This position serves as Section Leader for the Division of Habitat and Species Conservation, Aquatic Habitat Conservation and Restoration Section (AHCR).  Responsibilities include technical planning, guidance, evaluation and administrative assistance to aquatic resource enhancement biologists, oversight of aquatic habitat enhancement oriented fixed capital outlay projects and review of scientific and technical documents prepared by AHCR personnel.  AHCR biologists coordinate and/or oversee both research and statewide restoration/enhancement projects on freshwater, marine and estuarine habitats.  This position coordinates AHCR activities with other FWC Divisions and Offices and is responsible for Section budget preparation with assistance provided in the preparation of the Division budget.  Prepares information for Section related legislative issues. This position coordinates AHCR activities with the Department of Environmental Protection, US Army Corps of Engineers and Water Management Districts in regard to water quality, pesticide contamination and environmental resources permits.  Responsible for the timely and accurate processing and/or approval, as appropriate, of vendor invoices and warrants for payment of goods received or services rendered to avoid automatic interest penalty payments to said vendors.  Responsible for adhering to the provisions and requirements for Section 215.422, F.S.; related State Comptroller’s rules and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.  Courteously assists Commission constituents to resolve questions or problems they may have in matters relating to the Commission, its programs or fish and wildlife conservation generally.  Seeks to garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida’s citizens in a positive and proactive manner.

Level of Education-BS degree in a life or physical science.
