FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 6, 2015
DEP LAUNCHES 'PIC A PARK' CONTEST
~The state park with the most submissions
at the end of the month will host a free-entry day~
Tallahassee – The
Florida Department of Environmental Protection challenges you to "pic a park!"
In a new Facebook contest starting Feb. 9, DEP wants to know what your favorite
state park or trail is. Submit photos of your favorite state park or trail to DEP
through the department’s Facebook page. The state park or trail that has the
most pictures submitted to the page at the end of the month will host a
free-entry day in March.
Director of the Florida Park Service Donald Forgione said, “We
hope that this contest encourages people throughout the state to get outside
and explore some of our award-winning state parks and trails.”
It’s time to break out those camera phones! Whether you go
camping, hiking, canoeing or fishing in Florida State Parks, we want you to share
that with us. The pictures can be of wildlife, plants and trees, yourself or
just a nice view. Remember, every time you send us a picture make sure to tell
us what state park it’s from so that picture is counted toward your favorite
state park or trail.
Photos should be submitted in a direct message to the DEP
Facebook page. We will post submissions daily. At the end of the month, the
submissions will be tallied and the state park or trail that received the most
representation will host a free-entry day in March for those who follow the
department on Facebook. The Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is excluded from
this contest. There is no limit to entries per day and entries over the month,
but you must “like” the department’s Facebook page for your photo to qualify.
