ST. GEORGE ISLAND STATE PARK TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING
~Public invited to share input on land management plans~
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Environmental
Protection’s Florida Park Service will host a public workshop and presentation of the
update to the management plans for Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State
Park on Tuesday, Nov. 18 in Eastpoint.
Dr.
Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park provides miles of undeveloped
beaches on this barrier island with camping, swimming, fishing and boating.
Proposed
updates for this park include:
- Providing expanded family camping opportunities with the
addition of a 30-site camping loop and 12 walk-in tent sites;
- Providing expanded primitive-camping opportunities with the
addition of one primitive camping area;
- Providing boat-camping opportunities with a 30-slip boat dock,
picnic pavilion and bathhouse;
- Providing overnight accommodations with the addition of six
cabins;
- Providing bike lanes on each side of the main park drive; and
- Providing park-support facilities with the addition of storage
sheds and volunteer campsites.
The advisory group meeting will be held Wednesday,
Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. in the same location.
