ST. MARTINS MARSH AQUATIC PRESERVE HOSTS NATIONAL ESTUARIES DAY CELEBRATION
~Free event filled with family friendly activities celebrates the estuary~
CRYSTAL RIVER – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's St. Martins Marsh Aquatic Preserve is partnering with Citrus County School District’s Marine Science Station in the second annual National Estuaries Day Celebration on Sept. 27, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Guests can celebrate National Estuaries Day by learning firsthand about local estuarine communities, their importance and about the animals that call them home through a wide variety of activities for both children and adults. Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with local marine life in the touch tank, and face painting will be available at one of the many booths in the Visitor’s Center.
National Estuaries Day guests can also enjoy a relaxing, free boat ride over to the marine science station where they can explore the grounds via guided walking tours or climb the observation tower to get a bird’s eye view of the expansive estuarine system. The Friends of Crystal River State Park’s Citizen Support Organization will be on site offering food and beverages for cash-only purchase.

Due to limited parking, visitors should park at the Crystal River Preserve State Park. Guided boat rides will transport visitors to and from the Marine Science Station. Limited ADA parking is available at the Marine Science Station. Please call for details.
