FREE ENTRY TO FLORIDA STATE PARKS SUNDAY
~Celebrate National Recreation and Parks Month with free day-use
entry into all state parks on Sunday, July 17~
TALLAHASSEE, FL — In honor of July
being recognized as National Recreation and Parks Month, the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service invites visitors to
explore Florida’s 160 state parks this Sunday, July 17, 2011 free of charge. All 160 Florida State Parks (except Skyway Fishing Pier) will offer free day-use entry for this day only. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, including Buccaneer Bay, as well as Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park are included in this offer.
The
more than 700,000 acres throughout the state offer something for everyone.
Whether you prefer to enjoy hiking or cooling off in a natural spring,
paddling in freshwater lake or river, or soaking up the sun on one of the
two Top Ten Beaches in America this year, Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park in St. George Island (pictured) and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in
Key Biscayne, you will surely find a place the entire family can enjoy.
Sunday is the perfect day to bring the kids to your local state park and start the 2011 Outdoor Challenge. All you need is the checklist of outdoor activities, a good book and a camera. Complete five or more activities before September 30, including reading a book, send in the photos and you earn a free one day park pass to return for
more fun.
