PAYNES PRAIRIE PRESERVE STATE PARK TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING
~The public is invited to share input on the land
management plan ~
MICANOPY - Join the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service for a public meeting and
presentation of the update to the management plan for Paynes Prairie Preserve State
Park on Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m. at the Doyle Conner Building
Auditorium in Gainesville.
The presentation will propose updates to the management plan,
which include expanding camping opportunities with the addition of a youth
camping area and the addition of campsites or cabins in the Puc Puggy family
camping area. Proposed improvements to the Lake Wauberg day use area
include the addition of picnic facilities and a fishing dock. Also
proposed are improvements to the La Chua Trailhead on the Gainesville to Hawthorne
Trail and coordination with the Alachua Conservation Trust for increased public
access in the northeast portion of the park near Prairie Creek.
