DAYTONA BEACH AQUA SAFARI EARNS DEP'S CLEAN MARINA DISTINCTION
~Marina named 17th Clean Marina in Volusia County~

PONCE INLET –The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s
Clean Marina Program is proud to
designate Daytona Beach Aqua Safari as Florida Clean Marina, the 17th in Volusia County. The
marina has demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship through
implementing best management practices at its facility nestled in a small nook
in Ponce Inlet, south of Daytona Beach.
"The
efforts made by Daytona Beach Aqua Safari set them apart from the majority of
marinas in the state,” said the Department's Central District Director Jeff Prather. “We’re always
proud when another marina chooses to join the exclusive group of environmental
stewards implementing practices to help maintain Florida’s resources for future
generations.”
The Clean Marina Program
recognizes marinas, boatyards and retailers for a commitment to the
protection of Florida’s waterways and natural resources. Throughout the state, there are 270 Clean Marinas,
as well as 40 Clean Boatyards and 17 Clean Retailers.
“We at Daytona Beach Aqua Safari are
so happy to be the newest addition to the Clean Marina family,” said marina owner Matthew
Dvorak. “We strive very hard to maintain the future of the working
waterfront by practicing Clean Marina guidelines, and we hope to see more water
sport facilities follow our lead and become Clean Marinas.”
Florida’s Clean Marina
Program awards designated marinas with increased exposure as a good
environmental facility, assistance for installing pumpout facilities, as well
as access to technical assistance from the Florida Sea Grant, United States
Coast Guard Program, USCG Sea Partners, USCG Auxiliary, Marina Mentors
from other designated Clean Marinas, the Clean Boating Partnership and
staff from the Florida Clean Marina Program before, during and after the
designation process and more.
There are seven steps to
designation, which are verified in a confirmation visit from a
team of Florida Clean Marina Program and Clean Boating Partnership
representatives, once criteria have been met.
