DEP Announces Public Meeting to Update Weeki Wachee Springs State Park's Unit Management Plan

DEP’s Florida Park Service is in the process of updating the unit management plan for Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. The public is invited to attend the meeting to learn about the proposed plans for the state park and to provide comments.
The public notice, agenda and draft plan are available online. Copies may also be obtained by emailing Adam.Belden@FloridaDEP.gov or calling 352-592-5656. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m. Staff will be available during the meeting to answer questions and accept public comments. The public is also invited to review documents and submit comments to the Division of Recreation and Parks at FLStateParkPlanning@FloridaDEP.gov until Dec. 28, 2021.
Potential developments and improvements to park facilities that could occur over the next 10 years include:
- Develop new park entrance.
- Redesign existing parking area.
- Improve facilities at Buccaneer Bay.
- Redesign layout and facilities at the attraction area.
- Improve education and interpretation at the kayak launch area.
