DEP/DOH Joint Potable Water Update:

Midway Water System, Gulf Breeze, Florida

GULF BREEZE, Fla. – This week, residential tap sampling continued in response to the Boil Water Notice issued by Midway Water System on Oct. 18, 2021. Sampling began on Oct. 22, 2021, and to date, approximately 469 samples have been collected. The six residences that previously tested positive for Total Coliform have now tested negative. (Note: Multiple samples may be collected from a single residence as needed.)

The department continues to work with any remaining impacted residences who have not yet contacted the department to schedule sampling, which is estimated to be approximately 18 homes.

Bottled water will continue to be made available to any affected residents until testing results confirm the water is safe to drink. Information regarding bottled water distribution will be updated daily on DEP's community webpage.

Residents should continue to use an alternative water source until testing can be done in their homes to confirm the water meets all drinking water bacteriological standards.

DEP will continue to oversee efforts by the utility to ensure that safe drinking water is restored as quickly as possible.

Residents with health-related questions or concerns should contact their physician or the Florida Department of Health - Santa Rosa County
