GULF BREEZE, Fla. – DEP is operating a bottled water distribution station to aid residents impacted by the previously issued boil water notice by the Midway Water System. This notice covered the area between 4115 Soundside Drive and 5012 Soundside Drive, including Nature's Cove and The Waters subdivisions and adjacent streets.
Hours of Operation:
Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 – 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 – 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Location:
Community Life Methodist Church 4115 Soundside Drive Gulf Breeze, FL 32563
The boil water notice was issued by the utility following a private contractor plumbing a cross-connection from a residential sewage line to a potable water line, which was confirmed on Oct.18, 2021.
Boiling water is not effective in disinfecting all bacteriological parameters and is not the most protective measure. Therefore, in an abundance of caution, residents who received the boil water notice from the Midway Water System should use an alternative water supply, such as bottled water for potable use, until testing can be done in the homes to confirm the water meets all bacteriological standards.
On Oct. 22, 2021, DEP launched a community webpage so residents have access to the latest information on the bottled water distribution sites, sampling data and response activities.
DEP and DOH are committed to working together to ensure residents have access to safe drinking water and accurate, timely information regarding the status of their public water supply.
DEP will continue to oversee efforts by the utility to ensure that safe drinking water is restored as quickly as possible.
