DEP SECRETARY TO RECOGNIZE THE MAGNOLIA SCHOOL FOR RECYCLING COMMITMENT
TALLAHASSEE – Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard Jr. will participate in a ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 to recognize The Magnolia School for its commitment to protecting and preserving Florida’s natural resources.
The Magnolia School is one of three winners in the America Recycles Day K-12 Recycling Pledge Card Contest by submitting the greatest number of pledge cards for their catagory. The other two schools included Cedar Key School in Levy County and Miami Palmetto High in Miami Dade County. All pledges were entered into a statewide America Recycles Day drawing and eligible for one of three $50 gift certificates donated by Publix and a $100 gift card courtesy of Recycle Florida Today. The Magnolia School has received a computer donated by Creative Recycling Systems, Inc.
Across Florida, over 6,500 pledges were submitted to adopt conscientious living habits such as reusing, recycling, buying recycled products and encouraging others to develop these important habits in 2011. DEP, Recycle Florida Today, Creative Recycling Systems, Inc. and Publix Super Markets held the contest to recognize Florida schools for outstanding environmental commitment.
