Tallahassee - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service is pleased to congratulate the winners of the 2011 Florida State Parks Photo Contest. First place winner Jean Clark’s photo, Bobcats, was taken at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Second place went to Edge of the Fountain of Youth by Heidi Hopwood at De Leon Springs State Park and third place is Max at Sunset at Honeymoon Island State Park by Kristin Crawford.
“Congratulations to the winners of the 2011 photo contest, whose photos were selected from hundreds of beautiful photos sent in last year,” said DEP’s Florida Park Service Director Donald V. Forgione. “Florida’s state parks and trails offer a fantastic canvas for one of a kind photos, and I would like to thank everyone who sent in a photo and helped spread the word about all Florida's award-winning parks have to offer.”
Annual photo contest winners are selected from the 12 monthly photo contest winners throughout 2011 voted on each on month by visitors to the Florida Online Park Guide. The photographs were evaluated by professional photographers John Moran, Kevin Kolczynski and Lynn Berreitter to determine the top three winners. A Florida State Parks Family Annual Entrance Pass will be presented to Ms. Clark. Ms. Hopwood and Ms. Crawford will both receive Florida State Parks Individual Annual Entrance Passes.
The 2012 Florida State Parks and State Trails Photo Contest allows visitors to share their experiences at state parks and on state trails. Register and submit your favorite photos for a chance to win a Florida State Parks Passport. Visit the Photo Contest website for rules and details.
