Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park
to Host Public Meeting

DEP's Florida Park Service is in the process of updating the unit management plan for Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Citizens are invited to attend the public meeting to learn more about the proposed plans for the state and to provide their comments.

The public notice, agenda and draft plan are available online. Copies may also be obtained by emailing Zachary.Phifer@floridadep.gov or calling 352-628-5343. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m. Following the presentation, staff will be available for the duration of the meeting to answer questions and accept public comments. Additionally, the public is invited to review and submit comments to the Division of Recreation and Parks at FLStateParkPlanning@floridadep.gov until August 7, 2019.

Potential developments and improvements to park facilities that could occur over the next 10 years include:

• Renovate visitor center, boathouse and boats.
• Add nature trail connecting use areas.
• Highlight the Mullet Train.
• Reconfigure U.S. 19 park entrance, add ranger station, and improve traffic and visitor flow.
• Improve visitor flow, add additional parking, and add traffic control for West Visitor Center.
• Explore fishbowl renovation options.
• Remove current storage building and find new storage space.
• Raise, renovate, expand animal habitats and education centers.
