C&D Recycling

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Today, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection presented a Recycling Recognition Award to C&D Printing and Packaging, recognizing the company's outstanding reuse efforts and commitment to Florida's environment and recycling goals. DEP Southwest District Director Mary Yeargen visited the C&D office to present the award and to commend the company's 76-percent recycling rate.

"DEP’s vision is to create strong community partnerships, to safeguard Florida’s natural resources and enhance its ecosystems," said DEP Southwest District Director Mary Yeargen. "DEP cannot protect the environment alone. We need support and service from businesses, citizens, community groups, etc. C&D Printing and Packaging is an example of a community partner dedicated to helping us and all of Florida achieve a shared vision for a healthy, sustainable environment."

Maintaining an environmentally sustainable business is one of C&D Printing and Packaging's core values. The company's waste reduction efforts include recycling 100 percent of all paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastics at their facility. Additionally, the company utilizes vegetable-based inks and the printing industry's most environmentally friendly printing press.

"We only get one planet, and it’s our job to take care of it," said Bill Serata, owner of C&D Printing and Packaging. "We know the impact the environment endures from waste that ends up in our waterways and landfills, so we want to be a part of the solution.”

DEP's Recycling Program assists residents and industry in protecting Florida's environment by promoting sustainability and waste reduction, providing public outreach and education to avoid contamination, encouraging proper disposal practices, forming partnerships with community groups and stakeholders, and recognizing top recyclers for their environmental stewardship and innovative efforts through the Recycling Recognition Program.
