Dunns Creek State Park to Host Public Meeting

WHAT: Dunns Creek State Park Public Meeting
WHEN: October 2, 2018 5:30-7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Ravine Gardens State Park Civic Center 1600 Twigg St. Palatka, FL 32177
DEP's Florida Park Service is in the process of updating the unit management plan for Dunns Creek State Park. Citizens are invited to attend the public meeting to learn more about the proposed plans for the state park and to provide their comments.
The public notice, agenda and draft plan are available online. Copies also may be obtained by emailing Terri.Newmans@floridadep.gov or calling 386-329-3721. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m. Following the presentation, staff will be available for the duration of the meeting to answer questions and accept public comment. Additionally, the public is invited to review and submit comments to the Division of Recreation and Parks at FLStateParkPlanning@floridadep.gov until October 14, 2018.
Potential developments and improvements to park facilities that could occur over the next 10 years include:
- Enhancements to the entrance area by adding a ranger station and parking.
- Broadening recreational opportunities with a full-facility trailhead with equestrian parking near the entrance and creating 10 more miles of shared-use trails.
- Bettering management effectiveness by adding support facilities and staff residences.
- Improving accessibility by paving the remainder of the park drive.
- Enhancing Piney Bluff Day Use area with a concession building, picnic pavilions, interpretation and a boat dock.
- Adding camping opportunities with a primitive camp, standard campsites, tent campsites and an equestrian campground.
