About the Workshop: 


The Florida Department of Environmental Protection invites marinas, boat yards, boat clubs and yacht clubs, marine retail industry, Clean Marina Program members and other interested parties to attend an open discussion on Florida's Clean Marina program - a voluntary, partnership-driven initiative that encourages marina facilities to incorporate environmental Best Management Practices, creating partnerships with local communities and businesses to protect natural resources and promote economic growth. 

Discussion topics will include program updates, Best Management Practices regarding stormwater, pump out stations for fresh water and salt water facilities as well as how to become a designated clean and resilient marina.

    About the Speakers: 

    • Matt Czahor, DEP Environmental Specialist II, Matt has been with DEP for 4 years and works in the Compliance Assistance Program for the Submerged Lands and Environmental Resource coordination group. He is responsible for ensuring compliance with the wetlands and mangrove regulations for Florida
    • Richard Miller, DEP Environmental Specialist II, Richard began his career as a private stormwater inspector from 2006 to 2012. In 2013, he began working in his current position as an inspector with DEP’s South District. His primary areas of focus are industrial and construction related stormwater compliance. He also conducts hazardous waste inspections and coordinates the Clean Marina Program for the South District.
    • Karen Bayly, DEP Environmental Consultant, Karen has been with DEP for 25 years and works in the Citizen Support Services group. She oversees compliance with environmental laws in waste management including hazardous waste, used oil and universal waste. Karen conducts inspections to determine the compliance status of regulated facilities, responds to citizen inquiries, provides the regulated community with compliance assistance and conducts outreach activities.  

    About DEP Meet-Ups Monthly Meetings

    These events provide an opportunity for participants to learn, update and share information with a monthly guest speaker who provides channels of participatory discussions.

    They are also a great networking opportunity, creating connections across communities, businesses and government agencies to identify actions that can stimulate economic growth and regional cooperation while protecting natural resources.
