WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Today, the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection’s Southeast District recognized Triumph
Aerospace Structures in Stuart for outstanding environmental stewardship and
its exemplary commitment to implementing environmental management policies.
“On behalf of DEP and the State of Florida, I am thrilled to
recognize Triumph Aerospace Structures for their environmental stewardship.
They have demonstrated significant and measurable achievements that provide a
direct benefit to the environment,” said Jennifer Smith, director of
DEP’s Southeast District. “Triumph actively promotes environmentally
responsible practices, which in turn helps us to better accomplish our goal of
protecting Florida’s natural resources.”
Representatives from Triumph Aerospace Structures were on hand
to accept the award. "Triumph’s Stuart location is honored that this award
acknowledges our unwavering dedication to environmental safety, which includes
assigning a senior level manager to spearhead all environmental activities each
month," said Nick Drazic, general manager of Triumph Aerospace Structures - Stuart. "Dana Blackburn from Triumph Environmental, Safety and Health has been
instrumental in getting management and employees involved to maintain our high
level of environmental stewardship, and we are proud that our collective
efforts have been noticed by the Florida DEP.”
The award was presented during the district’s annual open house
aimed at growing the community’s awareness of the agency’s mission, increasing
communication and developing collaborative relationships with the community.
Southeast District staff enjoyed welcoming customers and stakeholders
throughout the region to the open house. Over 150 people attended
representing local government, industry, utilities and more. Guests were
invited to meet the district’s staff and Director Jennifer Smith. Permitting
and compliance experts from each of the district's regulatory programs – waste, air, water and environmental resources – were on hand to answer questions and
provide information about their respective programs.
Triumph Aerospace Structures is the first organization to be recognized under
the Southeast District’s new Superior Excellence Distinction Award Program. The
program was developed to support DEP’s vision of creating strong community
partnerships, safeguarding Florida’s natural resources and enhancing its
ecosystems.
