Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park Hosts Memorial Day Activities

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park will offer special activities this Memorial Day to recognize and honor those who served our country.

Volunteers will be collecting items for the Mission in Citrus Homeless Veterans Shelter in Inverness. The following items are requested and can be brought to the park for donation: toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags and laundry soap.

The park will be encouraging visitors to participate in Operation Welcome Home by writing notes to Citrus County residents who are currently serving. Additionally, visitors can support the Honor Flight network by writing notes to veterans of World War II and the Korean War who will be participating in an Honor Flight to visit the World War II and Korean War memorials in Washington D.C. on June 6.
