SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. - In celebration of Earth Day, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Northwest District invited Santa Rosa County fourth- through eight-grade students to creatively illustrate the importance of safeguarding Florida’s natural resources and enhancing its ecosystems.

“I am proud to announce winners of the 2017 Earth Day Poster Contest for Santa Rosa County," said DEP’s Northwest District Director Shawn Hamilton. “These artists did a fantastic job of capturing so many ways we can protect our environment. It is reassuring to see that our students are learning so much about our environment in school.”

The posters were judged on how well they portrayed an Earth Day message, artistic merit, originality and neatness. The winning posters can viewed on the department’s Facebook page

This is the third year the DEP Northwest District has organized the Earth Day Poster Contest for students in Santa Rosa, Bay and Leon counties.
