Weeki Wachee Springs State Park Launches Text Notification Pilot Program
~Subscribers can receive alerts about
the park to enhance visitor experience~
WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida
Park Service has launched a pilot program to send text notifications for Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, as well as eight other state parks. By subscribing to the
text notifications, visitors will receive alerts about the park which may include
special event details, discounts or promotions, as well as weather alerts and notifications when the park reaches
capacity or reopens when capacity is available.
To sign up for text notifications at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park,
text “weeki” to 51660. If you would like to receive text notifications for
other state parks, you can view the full list of parks with subscription
details.
In fiscal year 2015-16, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park boasted 397,832 visitors. The park is home to the world-famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids that have delighted visitors since 1947. The 538-acre park features a first magnitude spring and a 400-seat submerged theater for watching the live mermaid show, as well as a river boat cruise and opportunities for kayaking and paddleboarding.
