Honeymoon Island State Park Launches Text Notification Pilot Program
~Subscribers can receive alerts about
the park to enhance visitor experience~
DUNEDIN, Fla. – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida
Park Service has launched a pilot program to send text notifications for Honeymoon Island State Park, as well as eight other state parks. By subscribing to the
text notifications, visitors will receive alerts about the park which may include
special event details, discounts or promotions, as well as weather alerts and notifications when the park reaches
capacity or reopens when capacity is available.
To sign up for text notifications at Honeymoon Island State Park,
text “honeymoon” to 51660. If you would like to receive text notifications for
other state parks, you can view the full list of parks with subscription
details.
In fiscal year 2015-16, Honeymoon Island State Park boasted 1,267,746 visitors, the highest of any park in the Florida State Park system. The park is home to a wide variety of shorebirds, osprey nests and one of the few remaining virgin slash pine forests in South Florida. Visitors can swim, fish and snorkel in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico or picnic while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
