SAVANNAS PRESERVE STATE PARK TO HOST
PUBLIC HEARING

DEP's Florida Park Service is in the process of updating the Unit Management Plan for Savannas Preserve State Park. Citizens are invited to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposed plans for the state park and to provide their comments.

Please review the public notice, agenda and draft plan. Copies may also be obtained by emailing Christopher.Vandello@dep.state.fl.us or calling 772-398-2779. The public is invited to review and submit comments to the Division of Recreation and Parks at FL_StateParkPlanning@dep.state.fl.us until March 15, 2017.  

The following improvements are proposed for the updated Savannas Preserve State Park management plan:

  • Continue restoration and maintenance of natural communities within the park;
  • Develop new interpretive, educational and recreational programs;
  • Improve and/or repair existing facilities, as well as upgrade signage throughout the park;
  • Develop two new trail heads (Green River Parkway Trail head and Leonard Road Trail head);
  • Add a multi-use unpaved trail from Leonard Road Trail head to Macquillen Trail head for connection to the East Coast Greenway; and
  • Add a shared-use 6.5-mile trail from the Education Center Area to the Jensen Beach Day Use Area.
