The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is teaming up with Hillsborough County Solid Waste to hold a Free Tire Disposal Event on Saturday, Sept. 24.

“DEP is pleased to partner with Hillsborough County for a tire amnesty day collection,” said Joe Ullo, director of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Waste Management. “One of the key ways to fight Zika is through mosquito control. We encourage residents to take advantage of this free opportunity to dispose of old tires.”

Hillsborough County residents, with proof of residency, can bring up to 12 tires per vehicle for free disposal to either of the solid waste facilities. Commercial tires or tires for commercial businesses will not be accepted.

For more information, call Hillsborough County Solid Waste department at 813-272-5680.
