ERC HEARING FOR HUMAN HEALTH CRITERIA

 TO BE LIVE STREAMED

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are strengthening Florida’s water-quality standards to provide better public health protection and meet requirements of the federal Clean Water Act. These proposed standards set stringent and protective criteria for 39 chemicals that currently have no limits and update 43 chemicals whose criteria are more than 20 years old.

After working with EPA since 2012 to develop Florida-specific human health criteria that use the best science available and guidance from EPA, have the support of a scientific peer review panel as well as input from the public, DEP is ready to present the criteria improvements to the Florida Environmental Regulation Commission (ERC) for approval.

To provide greater public access, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection will offer a live webcast of Environmental Regulation Commission hearing on Human Health Criteria tomorrow.
