This urban park is dedicated to
the preservation of Ybor City's cultural heritage. The museum, housed in
the historic Ferlita Bakery, traces the rich cultural history of Ybor City and
the cigar-making industry with self-guided exhibits. La Casita, a restored
cigar worker's house, is also open for viewing. The following improvements are
proposed for the updated management plan:
- Improve the acoustic features of the museum building,
modernize exhibits, and add interpretive panels;
- Restore one of the three main casitas and two
additional historic buildings through new roofing, structural repairs and
floor restoration;
- Renovate the performance stage in the garden and
courtyard area;
- Improve the aesthetic qualities of the alley along the
north boundary of the park, including landscaping and fencing; and
- Create paved parking in the northwest corner of the
park.
