“Nature-Nauts,” which focus on exploring nature and how the preserve is kept
pristine.
The December “Nature-Nauts” program will address intriguing facts about
the preserve and the importance of prescribed fires in managing the preserve
habitat while attendees make s’mores around a campfire. The March program will address the importance of the
local watershed and how water flows through the preserve before heading into
the bay. The final “Nature-Nauts”
presentation will focus on the rare, endangered and threatened plants found
within the preserve and how staff works to protect them.
The St. Joseph Bay
State Buffer Preserve also offers educational opportunities through self-guided
interpretative hiking trails, TRAM Tours and programs in the Visitor Center.
