DEP CELEBRATES DESIGNATION OF BUSTER ISLAND PADDLING TRAIL

The Florida Department of Environmental
Protection’s Florida Park Service is proud to celebrate the designation of the
Buster Island Trail at Lake Kissimmee State Park as the 53rd
paddling trail in Florida’s Greenways and Trails System.
Local and
state officials will gather to canoe or kayak the
Zipperer Canal with a park ranger and enjoy other festivities at the park, including entertainment by local musicians.
The 11-mile Buster Island Loop Trail begins and ends by the
marina at Lake Kissimmee State Park. The diverse habitat,
a part of the headwaters of the Everglades, offers excellent fishing and
wildlife viewing opportunities for the quiet and observant paddler.
