ANASTASIA STATE PARK AND FORT MOSE HISTORIC STATE PARK TO HOST PUBLIC HEARING
~Public invited to share input on unit management plans ~
DEP's Florida Park Service is in the process of
updating Unit Management Plans for Anastasia State Park and Fort Mose
State Park. Citizens are invited to attend a public hearing to learn more
about the proposed plans for both state parks and to share their comments.
The public
notice, agenda and draft plan are available online for Anastasia State Park here and the draft plan for Fort Mose Historic State Park here. WHAT: Public Hearing for Anastasia State Park and Fort Mose Historic State Park WHEN: Aug. 26, 2015

The following improvements are proposed for
the updated Anastasia State Park management plan:
-
Develop a new campground loop with 30 sites;
-
Add
an additional boardwalk and two beach access points to provide better beach access;
-
Build
a new non-motorized boat rental concession facility to enhance boating
opportunities at the Salt Day Use area;
-
Construct
a large pavilion to provide more picnicking opportunities; and
-
Continue
to add/improve interpretive exhibits/signage throughout the park.
The following improvements are proposed for
the updated Fort Mose Historic State Park management plan:
- Build
an outdoor interpretive area including a bastion wall exhibit and archaeological
exhibit;

Construct
an outdoor classroom to host school field trips and other groups; and
-
Construct
a large picnic pavilion to provide more picnicking opportunities.
In fiscal year 2013-14, 539,936 people visited Anastasia State Park.
The park’s campground enjoys an 83 percent year-round occupancy rate. In fiscal year 2013-14, 121,438 people visited Fort Mose Historic State Park.
