The series will address the nesting habits and biology of sea turtles; how the nests are identified and protected; and how visitors and residents can help support a successful sea turtle nesting season.

Sea turtle nesting season began the first week of May and continues through October. Sea turtle nests have been spotted on both St. George Island and St. Vincent Island, and volunteers and staff are monitoring area beaches for their crawls.

Little St. George Island has been monitored by Apalachicola Research Reserve staff since 1988 and staff also oversees the St. George Island Volunteer Turtlers, which help monitor the nests.
