Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report
EOC Activation Level: Level 2
EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
- Areas of patchy dense fog have developed throughout the western Panhandle and Northeast Florida this morning and will slowly dissipate as the sun rises.
- Otherwise, a sunny and dry day is expected across the Sunshine State as high pressure remains anchored overhead.
- Easterly onshore winds around this area of high pressure will remain elevated across the Peninsula today, with breezy wind gusts upwards of 25-30 mph possible.
- Lighter winds are expected throughout the Panhandle, though may still reach upwards of 20 mph at times, especially along the immediate coast.
- Relative humidities will dip near or below critical thresholds (25-35%) throughout North Florida this afternoon which, paired with ongoing extreme to exceptional drought (level 3-4 of 4), will lead to elevated wildfire danger.
- High temperatures will climb into the lower to middle 80s throughout the state away from the coast, with 70s along the Panhandle coastline and East Coast.
- A few locations across Northeast Florida and along the I-75 corridor may reach the upper 80s or even 90-degrees.
- A mostly clear and calm night is expected across the state.
- These clear skies will promote patchy fog development across portions of North and Central Florida, some of which could become locally dense, especially for the western Panhandle and Northeast Florida.
- Low temperatures will dip into the middle to upper 50s across North Florida, upper 50s to middle 60s in Central Florida, and middle 60s to middle 70s in South Florida.
- Surf near 4-6' will keep a high risk for rip currents for the East Coast. A moderate risk is expected for most Panhandle beaches.
