EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
-
High pressure along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. will continue nosing into the local area today, bringing mostly sunny skies and dry conditions to much of the Sunshine State.
-
Very marginal moisture will linger along the immediate East Coast today where a few light showers may push onshore this afternoon (15-20% chance of rain), though any activity will be brief in nature.
-
The easterly flow is expected to persist throughout the state today, with breezy wind gusts upwards of 25-30 mph throughout the Peninsula this afternoon.
-
Relative humidities will dip near or below critical thresholds (25-35%) throughout North Florida this afternoon which, paired with ongoing extreme to exceptional drought (level 3-4 of 4), will lead to elevated wildfire danger.
-
High temperatures will climb into the lower to middle 80s throughout the state away from the coast, with 70s along the Panhandle coastline and East Coast. A few locations across Northeast Florida and along the I-75 corridor may reach the upper 80s or even 90-degrees.
-
A mostly clear and calm night is expected across the state.
-
These clear skies will promote patchy fog development across Northeast and North-Central Florida, some of which could become locally dense.
-
Low temperatures will dip into the middle to upper 50s across North Florida, upper 50s to lower 60s in Central Florida, and middle 60s to lower 70s in South Florida.
-
A high risk for rip currents is expected for all East Coast beaches today where surf of 4-6' will linger. Palm Beach County will see locally higher surf upwards of 8' and a High Surf Advisory remains in effect.
