Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:

  • Another chilly start this morning for the Sunshine State as Freeze Warnings and Cold Weather Advisories remain in effect through the mid-morning hours across most of the state.
  • High pressure centered over the state will slowly drift eastward towards the Atlantic waters today keeping conditions mostly dry throughout the daytime hours.
  • Relative humidity values will remain near critical thresholds (25-30%) across Northeast and Central Florida this afternoon leading to elevated wildfire conditions.
  • High temperatures will return to the 60s across the state this afternoon allowing for a break in the cooler temperatures.
  • This evening and overnight another cold front will approach and move into the state bringing scattered to widespread showers across the Panhandle and western Big Bend by the early morning hours on Wednesday (40-75% chance of rain).
  • Across portions of Northeast Florida and interior Central Florida areas of patchy frost may develop by Wednesday morning, and Frost Advisories may be needed.
  • For the first time in several night, cold weather products will not be needed as conditions warm up.
    • Low temperatures will fall into the middle to upper 30s for Northeast Florida, 40s across the rest of North Florida and Central Florida and upper 40s to upper 50s across South Florida.
    • Feels-like temperatures across the Suwannee Valley could dip into the lower 30s by sunrise Wednesday morning.
  • Onshore winds and lingering ocean swells along the Space and Treasure Coasts will continue to create a high risk for rip currents.
    • Wave heights of 3-5’ will continue along the East Coast throughout the day, with Treasure Coast beaches seeing wave heights upwards of 6-8’.
    • A High Surf Advisory remains in effect along Palm Beach County through late this afternoon for dangerous beach and boating conditions.
  • Severe Weather Awareness Week (February 2-6, 2026): Rip currents are dangerous because they can pull unprepared swimmers away from shore and into deeper offshore waters. If you get caught in a rip current, don't fight it. Remain calm and float parallel to the shore until you are out of the rip current.
