Meteorological Summary:
-
It’s a cold start this morning across the Sunshine State as arctic air has made its way southward. Feels-like temperatures this morning are in the teens and 20s across North Florida and the 20s and 30s across Central and into South Florida.
-
Extreme Cold Warnings remain in effect until 11:00 AM EST/10:00 AM CST across the Panhandle and Big Bend as temperatures and wind chills very slowly warm up.
-
Cold Weather Advisories throughout the rest of the state will remain in effect until the mid-morning hours.
-
Conditions will very slowly warm up today, but it is still expected to be below normal temperatures across the state. Even with plenty of sunshine high temperatures will only be in the 40s across North Florida, 50s in Central Florida and 60s across South Florida.
-
Lingering breezy winds and the slow warm up will create feels-like temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s across the I-10 corridor and the middle 40s to lower 50s through the I-4 corridor.
-
Another cold and clear night can be expected across the state. Low temperatures will fall into the 20s throughout North Florida, lower to middle 30s across Central Florida and upper 30s to lower 50s across South Florida tonight.
-
Freeze Warnings will likely go into effect again tonight across Northeast Florida and portions of Central Florida.
-
Feels-like temperatures will fall into the 20s and lower 30s across North and Central Florida towards Lake Okeechobee by sunrise Wednesday morning. Even interior Southwest Florida will see feels-like temperatures in the 30s.
-
Cold Weather Advisories will go into effect tonight throughout the Peninsula and may extend into Northeast Florida.
-
Very dry air settling into North and West Florida, along with lingering elevated winds on top of ongoing drought conditions, will lead to sensitive to elevated wildfire conditions.
-
Large ocean swells off the Peninsula coasts will create wave heights of 3-5' along the West Coast and 4-8' along the East Coast.
-
A moderate to high risk for rip currents can be expected to persist nearly statewide.
