Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:

  • Dense fog and low clouds have developed across the Sunshine State this morning, prompting the issuance of Dense Fog Advisories that extend south of the I-4 corridor.
  • Foggy conditions are expected to persist through the mid-morning hours and may be slow to dissipate.
  • Expect another day of above normal temperatures, with rain chances held to a minimum statewide (less than 5% chance).
  • Rain chances increase tonight along the western Florida Panhandle (25-50%) as our next weather system comes into view.
  • An isolated rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out; however, severe weather or flash flooding is not expected.
  • Low-level moisture and light winds from the Florida Big Bend through the Florida Peninsula will promote the development of fog and low clouds tonight into Monday morning; areas of dense fog will be likely.
  • Locally sensitive wildfire conditions continue statewide, especially for locations experiencing long-term drought and dry soils/vegetation; expect further reductions in visibility in areas where fog develops near any ongoing wildfires or burns
  • A moderate risk of rip currents can be expected for many Florida beaches today, with high risk conditions residing along the East-Central Florida coastline.
