Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Areas of locally dense fog have developed this morning throughout the Big Bend and Central Florida leading to reduced visibilities at times.
  • Another day of mostly sunny and dry conditions can be expected for the Sunshine State as the fog continue to lift by the mid-morning hours.
  • A weak cold front will continue to push through North Florida and into Central Florida before eventually stalling out, but no rain is expected with this frontal passage.
    • A few sprinkles may develop just offshore from the Treasure Coast over the coastal waters.
  • Behind the front a surge of drier air will move into northern Florida, mainly north of the I-10 corridor, allowing for relative humidity values to fall below critical thresholds (25-30%) and creating locally elevated wildfire conditions.
    • Despite relative humidity values remain above critical thresholds for the rest of North Florida, sensitive wildfire conditions will persist given the ongoing drought and warm temperatures.
  • High temperatures will remain in the upper 70s to lower 80s across the state this afternoon.
  • As the front stalls across Central Florida tonight, there will be a chance for another round of locally dense fog throughout the area early Tuesday morning.
  • Low temperatures will fall into the upper 40s to middle 50s across North Florida, lower to middle 60s across Central Florida and 60s to near 70-degrees across South Florida.
  • A moderate risk for rip currents returns along the Panhandle and numerous East Coast beaches given calm marine conditions of 1-2' and light winds.
