Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

Meteorological Summary:
  • Another Sunny and dry day is on tap for Florida as high pressure remains anchored over the Southeast U.S (near-0% chance of rain statewide).
  • A dry frontal passage will reinforce the dry air across North Florida and the Panhandle this afternoon, with relative humidities reaching near or below critical thresholds (25-30% RH values).
    • Although winds will remain light today, the ongoing drought and low humidities will allow for locally sensitive to elevated wildfire conditions this afternoon across North Florida.
  • Relative humidities will remain above critical thresholds across South Florida today, though breezier winds are expected with gusts upwards of 15-20 mphpossible along coastal Southeast Florida.
  • Highs will climb towards seasonable levels this afternoon, into the middle to upper 70s statewide.
  • Lows across North Florida will reach the lower to upper 40s in most locations, with coastal regions remaining in the lower 50s.
    • Patchy fog may develop towards daybreak across portions of the western Panhandle and interior Northeast Florida.
  • Lows will dip into the lower to middle 50s across Central Florida where additional patchy fog is possible across the I-75 corridor and Nature Coast.
  • Upper 50s to middle 60s can be expected in South Florida with coastal Southeast Florida communities only reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s.
  • A moderate risk for rip currents is expected for all Panhandle and East Coast beaches today.
