Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

Meteorological Summary:
  • The remainder of the cold front will push off the Peninsula and the Keys this morning allowing cooler and drier air to continue to filter southward across the Sunshine State., with a few showers this morning across the Keys this morning before dissipating.
  • Gusty winds will expand across the state throughout the day leading to wind gusts of 20-25 mph and stronger wind gusts of 30-35 mph possible along portions of the Gulf Coast.
  • Much drier air and a near-zero chance of rain over drought areas will create sensitive to elevated wildfire conditions throughout North Florida Monday afternoon, especially with relative humidity values falling below critical thresholds (20-30%).
    • Red Flag Warnings will go into effect across North Florida today at noon for elevated wildfire conditions.
  • Cooler winds and gusty winds will keep high temperatures in the 50s across North Florida on Monday, while Central Florida will remain in the 60s to lower 70s and South Florida will remain in the 70s and lower 80s.
  • The coldest temperatures of the season arrive overnight Monday and into Tuesday.
    • Widespread freezing temperatures can be expected across North Florida tonight where Freeze Warnings will go into effect tonight due to low temperatures in the middle 20s to lower 30s.
    • Low temperatures will fall into the 30s throughout interior Central Florida and the lower 40s closer towards the coast. South Florida will see low temperatures fall into the 40s to lower 50s overnight.
  • Lingering breezy winds will continue into Tuesday morning leading to feels-like temperatures in the upper teens and 20s throughout North and Central Florida, with coastal Central Florida seeing feels-like temperatures in the 30s.
    • Cold Weather Advisories will go into effect for sub-freezing or near freezing wind chills Tuesday morning nearly statewide.
    • Even South Florida will see feels-like temperatures in the 30s through Lake Okeechobee and Alligator Alley Tuesday morning.
  • Breezy winds and large ocean swells of 2-5' will create a moderate to high risk for rip currents across beaches statewide.
    • Larger breaking waves of 5-7' will be possible through this afternoon along the West and Gulf Coast.
  • The St. Johns River at Astor will continue to slowly decline through minor flood stage today.
