Meteorological Summary:
- High pressure over the eastern U.S. will bring dangerously hot and humid conditions across the Sunshine State.
- Shower and thunderstorm activity will remain isolated along the sea breeze, with the best chance along Southwest Florida, in the afternoon and evening (15-35% chance of rain).
- Embedded locally strong to severe thunderstorms cannot be ruled out along the sea breeze, bringing frequent lightning, gusty winds and heavy downpours.
- Dangerously hot and humid conditions can be expected statewide with another round of the hottest conditions of the summer so far.
- High temperatures across North and Central Florida will reach the upper 90s to lower 100s this afternoon, while South Florida will see high temperatures in the lower to middle 90s.
- Triple digit heat index values can be expected statewide with North and Central Florida seeing heat index values in the lower 110s (110-115-degrees).
- Excessive Heat Warnings have been issued across portions of Northeast Florida for heat index values upwards of 110-degrees.
- Heat Advisories extend across North and Central Florida towards Lake Okeechobee for heat index values of 112-degrees.
- Shower and thunderstorm activity will dissipate overnight with the loss of daytime heating; however, some showers and thunderstorms may move southward from Georgia into the Panhandle and Big Bend (15-20% chance of rain).
- Low temperatures will fall into the upper 70s to lower 80s overnight and may bring little relief from daytime heat and humidity.
- A moderate risk for rip currents can be expected along numerous Panhandle beaches, while all other beaches across the state can expect a low risk.
