Meteorological Summary:
- Isolated showers and thunderstorms have develop this morning over the Suwannee Valley as a weak front attempts to sink into the Southeast U.S.
- High pressure over the gulf waters will lead to isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms developing throughout the state (40-75% chance of rain).
- The greatest chance for activity looks to be across Northeast Florida and the interior Peninsula where the sea breeze boundaries will meet and collide.
- Embedded locally strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible during the afternoon and evening hours, and may produce frequent lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
- Widespread rainfall totals of 1-2" can be expected, with locally higher totals upwards of 3" possible.
- Dangerous heat and humidity will develop across the state throughout the day as high temperatures reach well into the 90s and approach triple digits in some areas.
- Heat index values in the triple digits (105-112-degrees) can be expected statewide, and Heat Advisories have been issued statewide.
- Showers and thunderstorms will continue into evening hours before dissipating overnight; however, the nearby front over the Southeast U.S. will allow for showers and embedded thunderstorms over the Suwannee Valley will linger overnight (45-55% chance of rain).
- Low temperatures will fall into the middle to upper 70s and lower 80s overnight.
- A Moderate to High risk of Rip Currents across Florida Panhandle beaches today; A Moderate risk of Rip Currents for some East Coast beaches.
- Invest 94L (20% chance of development) has been designated associated with disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity 700 miles southeast of the Lesser Antilles. This system poses no threat to Florida.
