Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report
EOC Activation Level: Level 2
EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
- Patchy to scattered dense fog has developed this morning across the Big Bend, and a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through the mid-morning hours due to reduced visibility.
- The active weather pattern will continue across the Peninsula today as scattered to numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms move across the Peninsula ahead of a cold front (50-75% chance of rain).
- With the help of daytime heating and the sea breeze developing, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening from the I-75 corridor and eastward - Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather.
- Any strong to severe thunderstorm that develops will be capable of producing frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts (50-60 mph), large hail (quarter-size) and heavy downpours.
- An embedded tornado or two cannot be ruled out near the East Coast due to the sea breeze pushing inland.
- Organized flash flooding is not expected; however, locally heavy downpours or slow-moving thunderstorms over urban and low-lying/poor drainage areas may lead to instances of localized flash flooding or ponding of water.
- Widespread rainfall totals of 1-2" can be expected throughout the Peninsula, with locally higher totals upwards of 3-5" possible along portions of the Southeast Florida coast.
- Sensitive wildfire conditions may return along the Panhandle as drier conditions return in the wake of the passing cold front.
- High temperatures will reach the lower to middle 80s across North Florida and middle to upper 80s and near 90-degrees throughout Central and South Florida.
- Shower and thunderstorm activity will generally push off the East Coast later this evening and into the early overnight hours before drier conditions return statewide, but a linger shower or thunderstorm near the coast overnight cannot be ruled out (30-50% chance of rain).
- Instances of fog may develop overnight and into Monday morning throughout the state, especially with wet grounds and soils from rainfall earlier in the day.
- Low temperatures will reach the 50s to lower 60s across North Florida and middle 60s to lower 70s across Central and South Florida.
- A moderate to high risk for rip currents persists along the Panhandle and Space Coast beaches.
