EOC Activation Level: Level 2 
Meteorological Summary:
  • Showers with embedded thunderstorms expected to develop across the Big Bend and Northern Peninsula this afternoon and evening, spreading southward towards the I-4 corridor into the overnight hours ahead of a cold front moving southeastward through the state (30-60% chance of rain).
    • Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather across the Northern Peninsula and into the Nature Coast; strong to severe thunderstorms producing frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts (30-60 mph), medium to large hail, and locally heavy downpours possible.
    • Isolated instances of flooding and ponding of water cannot be ruled out.
  • Mostly dry conditions with isolated showers possible expected elsewhere today (near 0-25% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the upper 70s to middle 80s.
  • Winds turning westerly to northwesterly and strengthen to near 10-15 mph with gusts near 15-25 mph today behind the cold front.
  • Sensitive to elevated wildfire conditions expected along the Florida Panhandle and portions of the Peninsula this afternoon and evening.
  • Elevated Risk (level 1 of 3) for Fire Weather along portions of the Peninsula today as dry and breezy conditions are likely in the wake of the cold front.
  • Red Flag Warnings issued for portions of interior and Eastern Central Florida from this afternoon through this evening.
  • Minor flooding persists along the Apalachicola River near Blountstown.
  • Low to moderate risk for rip currents statewide; locally high risk Bay, Gulf, and Palm Beach Counties.
  • Low temperatures in the upper 40s to middle 50s across North Florida, upper 50s to middle 60s across Central and South Florida, and upper 60s to low 70s along the Keys.
